Roy Chapman Andrews Historic Marker Dedicated

Roy Chapman Society BoardRoy Chapman Society marker dedicationThe Roy Chapman Andrews Society and the Beloit Community came together in September 2014 to pay tribute to Beloit’s most famed Explorer, Roy Chapman Andrews when a permanent Historical Marker was dedicated. The marker can be viewed just south of the Turtle Island Playground in the Riverside Park next to the Rotary River Center.

Andrews – for whom adventure and narrow escapes from death were a staple of exploring – is said to have served as inspiration for the Hollywood character “Indiana Jones.”

Tourism Secretary, Stephanie Klett,  members of the Board of Directors and the community were present for the celebration.
